Meet our 2010 Camp Director!
Michael Shelton, a prominent professional in the summer camp field who wrote three books on camp management and leads workshops and trainings across the country on related topics, will join Mountain Meadow as its Camp Director for its 2010 season scheduled from August 8th through 21st in southern New Jersey . Shelton is most known for actively promoting diversity in youth programming and is one of the most knowledgeable professionals in the country on sex and sexuality in summer camps.
Mike was the Executive Director and Camp Director for Camp William Penn for over 10 years, a City of Philadelphia camp program for over 400 inner-city youth in the Poconos.
“This is a major and wonderful development for Mountain Meadow,” says Steve Duffy, Executive Director. “Although we’ve been providing this camp since 1981, Michael is probably the most experienced camp director we’ve ever worked with, which will make our program that much more successful this year.”
Mike looks forward to meeting all the campers and families this summer, and is busy working on hiring the leadership staff who will work at camp this year.
